Funny how a release once deemed incredible in one's youth can be looked back upon with modest disdain. This release features one track worth listening to (and one track only - the lyrics are even included on the back cover) - "The Eternal Glory Of War". It so happens that many years ago as a misguided teenager I heard this one track on the radio (community radio of course) and it so blew me away I just had to get my hands on it the next day. Hence, I came across a classic case of "it was the only good song on the release", which lead man KK Warslut subsequently said was recorded over many sessions with different drummers in different studios. In other words, the rest of this is in my view rather crap. "The Eternal Glory Of War" is a slow paced militant epic, with very simple not-quite-so-fuzzy-black-metal-sounding chords, a very thin drum sound, and some very very angry distorted vocals. Starting with a sampled military march, the chords - which are played over and over and over again - begin, and then the vocals soon after. It's repetitive and almost monotonous - and very effective. Perhaps the best thing about the song is the lyrical delivery. Apart from being discernible (unlike, say for example, the vocals of Emperor or Cannibal Corpse if you want to make a death metal comparison) they are also intelligently written. Embodying such themes as the wolves of old, the warrior spirit, the futility of life, this is the kind of song that makes you want to invade poland. Take for example this snippet, which falls in the final buildup. "you're liars cheats cunts and fucking whores" "i want you all against the fuckign wall" "you are traitors to everything that was ever yours" "there's nothing left for this world but fucking war" The Eternal Glory Of War indeed.
